Abuse

There is nothing quite like an old action-shooter game, where aliens jump out of nowhere and the sole purpose is to shoot the crap out of them. That is exactly what Abuse is. Once a commercial DOS game in the mid-90's, the source code was released a few years later and ports to various platforms were made, including Windows, Linux and Mac OSX.

The point of the game is the standard action side-scroller point: kill everything you see and find the exit to the level. Pretty simple, yet very difficult at times.

Getting the game is somewhat more difficult, as the ports are hard to find. There is a list here on Wikipedia that you can browse to see if you can find it for your platform. Linux distributions will probably have it in their package management system.

So if you like to click like crazy at hordes of aliens trying to kill you, then Abuse is for you. Check it out, but keep an extra mouse handy in case yours dies.
