Description:

Kingdom of Loathing (KoL) is a multiplayer online fantasy role-playing game. Players create an account on the system and are given a character with which they can play the game. Each player is given a number of turns each day, and can gain more turns by eating food or drinking booze. These turns are then used for "adventures" which usually involve encounters with monsters.

The game is highly satirical, with character classes such as "Seal Clubber" or "Disco Bandit" and monsters such as a Gnollish Crossdresser or a Knott Yeti. The currency used is pieces of meat, which can be used to buy things from the town markets or the player-run mall.

One interesting thing about KoL is some of the laws of economics apply. The prices of many items are determined by supply and demand, and inflation has been observed when a bug allowed for vast supplies of meat to be injected into the system.

The game is fun, however after a while it can be repetitive or annoying when one can't move on past a certain point. Sometimes a character can't kill a monster that they need to and end up getting bored of the game. When a player finishes the game by killing the Naughty Sorceress, they are able to "ascend" which opens up new area of the game which alleviates the repetitiveness somewhat.

Overall, KoL is a lot of fun to play, and there are many laughs to be had. We recommend you give this one a try!

On the contrary...

I have to argue your opinion here, as I love Kingdom of Loathing. The graphics aren't great, but they're designed to be as they are. The game is supposed to be a satire, and it succeeds very well.

The game is a lot of fun for a while, and appeals to a wider audience than a lot of MMORPGs out there. This is because it is easy to use, you level up fairly quickly and the world is very easy to navigate. I'd recommend this to anybody who has some spare time on their hands and is looking for a few chuckles.

The game isn't too great, there are lots of other better MMORPGs for Linux and other OS. The site isn't really attractive and I heard not many people play it due to certain things. I say you should only play this game at a last resort.
