Sauerbraten (Cube 2)

Sauerbraten is a fast-paced, first person shooter based off of the game Cube that plays similar to Quake.

The game is not truly a game, instead it is a game engine that is fully playable (even in multiplayer). Even in this state, it is still an awesome game that continues the classical first-person shooter mentality of "use big guns to shoot everybody you see."

The single player is fun, we especially enjoyed the "army of one" mode where you just go around shooting monsters (we didn't really figure out the goal). The multiplayer is also good, although since it's a new open-source game there aren't very many people playing it online (yet).

The game has some nifty new things, like when you press escape the menu pops up as an object in the world, and you can walk around it. This means that you can dodge bullet fire while setting your graphics options - not that any of us are capable of doing that, but the possibility is there.

This is a great one with a very complete feeling (we found no bugs) that is guaranteed to bring back memories of LAN gaming with Quake. We highly recommend this one to any hardcore gamer.
